This evening, the John Martyn Memorial School’s front yard came alive with their 34th Founder’s Day celebrations. The Austrian ambassador Her Excellency Brigitte Oeppinger Walchshofer was the chief guest. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp was done by the ambassador along with the Managing Trustee and The Ex-officio Trustees. The tiny-tots of the Nursery danced to Kawa-kawa while the KG and Class I lined up with Aksharon ki varnamala and classes II, III, IV presented Vandana and a Welcome song. An English group song by the school choir, an English recitation Don’t Quit by Amreen and a Kumaoni folk dance added colour to the evening. The Hindi play ‘Do darpan’ took the audience to the ancient city Benaras. In the grand finale Ma tujhe salaam the whole school paid tribute to India’s diversity and inflated tri-colour balloons floated in the sky.

The chief guest complimented the school’s impact on the village community and the variety of the presentation. “I wanted the honoured visitors to get ‘a glimpse of India’, smiled Shefali Chopra Gandhi who had conceived and directed the presentation, “And every child of the school had a role to play! Isn’t this the unity and diversity of our India!”.
